Effects of Arthritis on back pain



Spondylitis  is a form of arthritis which affects the spine and causes severe back pain. It causes severe inflammation of the vertebrae, which can not only cause discomfort but might also turn into chronic pain. In more advanced and serious cases of this disease. The back bones can be extremely painful and can result in deformed posture. Hunched back and problems in keeping the spine straight is the most common issue during spondylitis.


 This disease usually affects men more than women. It starts developing in early adulthood, with symptoms such as frequent backache and neck ache. Many people also complain of inflammation and eye problems, such as puffy eyes and trouble focusing.Currently, there is no cure of the disease as it is a chronic one. But with proper medication and care, its symptoms can be reduced.

There are two types of spondylitis


cervical spondylitis

Cervical spondylosis is a general term for age-related wear and tear affecting the spinal disks in your neck. As the disks dehydrate and shrink,

Cervical spondylosis is very common and worsens with age. More than 85 percent of people older than age 60 are affected by cervical spondylosis.


Symptoms

For most people, cervical spondylosis causes no symptoms. When symptoms do occur, they typically include pain and stiffness in the neck.

Ankylosing spondylitis

Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory disease that, over time, can cause some of the small bones in your spine (vertebrae) to fuse. This fusing makes the spine less flexible and can result in a hunched-forward posture. If ribs are affected, it can be difficult to breathe deeply.

Symptoms

Early signs and symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis might include pain and stiffness in your lower back and hips, especially in the morning and after periods of inactivity. Neck pain and fatigue also are common. Over time, symptoms might worsen, improve or stop at irregular intervals.
